Breakfast, lunch and dinner service is offered six days a week for any and all walk-in clients at 819 Hidalgo Street. Bethany House shelter residents are also served at this facility, which has capacity for 130 occupants.
More than 1,250 meals are prepared and served daily on-site. In one year it accounts to almost 400,000 meals.
Meals are delivered every day to the homes of indigent, elderly and disabled or physically challenged persons (including veterans). For many, the meal delivery is the only personal visit they may receive during a day.
500 breakfast and lunch meals are delivered each day, five days a week.
KID’S CAFE is the after school feeding program which serves impoverished children living at 6 different local public housing units. This program assures children with challenging family realities do not go to bed hungry and are prepared for the next school day. An average of 145 kids receive a hot meal daily, five days a week.
LUZ DE ESPERANZA is the Saturday education program where approximately 25 children participate and are served breakfast and lunch each day.
STREET CORNER MEALS
Over 170 meals are delivered to homeless living on the streets in north Laredo. Stepping Stone Ministries generously assists in distribution.
FOOD PANTRY AND DISTRIBUTION
Bethany House serves as a distribution center for requests of food bags with nonperishable food and beverage items. For most indigents and families, these food bags are their only sustenance. The majority of the items are collected through community drives.
Over 2,600 food bags were distributed in 2013.
